Esfandiari, the Iranian citizen who returned to Iran after fourteen months of captivity in France on charges of opposing genocide in Gaza and supporting the oppressed people of Palestine, met with Foreign Minister Araqchi in Tehran on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Esfandiari recounted the events of the past two years and expressed her gratitude for the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the minister himself in securing her release from prison and facilitating her return to the homeland. She also thanked the Consular and Iranian Affairs Department and the Embassy of Iran in Paris for their assistance and support over the past 14 months.
For his part, Araqchi expressed his happiness over Esfandiari's release and return to the country, praised her moral courage in supporting the oppressed people of Palestine and her high spirits during her detention, and emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the protection of the rights of Iranian nationals around the world as its inherent duty and will spare no effort in this regard.
Esfandiari was arrested approximately 14 months ago by French security agencies for posting content on social media opposing the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and spent several months in prison.
