MP Says Strait of Hormuz Has Returned to Previous State

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian lawmaker reiterated earlier warnings over the Strait of Hormuz, saying recent developments reflect US’ ignorance of cautions and stressing that Iran determines the waterway’s operational rules.

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ebrahim Azizi referred to his earlier warning regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

“We warned you, you did not pay attention! Now enjoy the return of the Strait of Hormuz situation to its previous state,” he reminded the US officials.

Azizi had previously emphasized that the new maritime framework governing the Strait of Hormuz must be complied with, stating that Iran determines this framework, not social media posts.

In a statement on Saturday, the spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is under strict control of the Iranian Armed Forces and will remain in its previous operational state.

The spokesman stated that until the United States ends restrictions on the free movement of vessels from Iran to their destinations and from elsewhere to Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain tightly controlled and unchanged from its previous status.
