US Media Assassination Plot Against Iranian Negotiators Triggers Outrage

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Amid ongoing talks between Iran and the US in Pakistan, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson condemned calls within US policy and media circles advocating for the assassination of Iranian negotiators, decrying such rhetoric as normalized incitement to state terrorism.

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei reacted sharply to recent statements from some elements in the US political and media spheres that openly recommend targeting Iranian negotiators if diplomatic talks collapse.

“While US authorities accuse Iran of lacking ‘good faith’ and engaging in ‘extortion’, elements within the US policy and media space are outright recommending the assassination of Iranian negotiators in the event that negotiations fail,” he said.

“Is this not, in effect, a policy discourse that normalizes extortion through the threat or public incitement of terror, violence, and manslaughter?” Baqaei asked.

“This express public incitement for state terrorism must be denounced by all,” the Iranian spokesman added.
