UK Urges Inclusion of Lebanon in Iran-US Ceasefire Agreement

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The UK has urgently called for the Iran-US ceasefire to include Lebanon, where Israeli strikes persist.

World

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper emphasized the need for an immediate halt to hostilities in Lebanon, stressing that the current Iran-US truce must expand to cover the escalating Israeli attacks there.

Cooper welcomed the two-week ceasefire as a "vital step toward regional stability."

She praised Iran’s 10-point negotiation proposal as a constructive basis for dialogue and commended Pakistan’s mediation efforts in brokering the agreement.

"It is imperative that these talks lead to a permanent end to the conflict," Cooper stated.

Despite the truce, the Israeli regime has continued airstrikes and ground operations in southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials reported eight deaths and 22 injuries in an Israeli strike on Sidon just hours after the ceasefire announcement.

Since November 2024, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed 1,530 people and wounded 4,812, according to Lebanese authorities.
