In a message posted on his X account, Esmaeil Baqaei highlighted the rescue effort and extended condolences to Afghan victims affected by the 35-day military campaign against Iran, emphasizing the presence of Afghan residents among the casualties.
“An 8-year-old Afghan child was rescued from under the rubble by Iranian rescue and relief teams,” he said.
“During the 35-day military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, a number of Afghan citizens residing in Iran—who are in fact our dear guests—have also been martyred or injured,” he added.
“We extend our condolences to the bereaved families, as well as to the officials and the noble people of Afghanistan, and we pray to Almighty God for the swift recovery of the injured,” the spokesman stated.
The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of then Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.
The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
