Abdolmotahhar Mohammadkhani, spokesperson for the mayor of Tehran, said on April 2 that around 33,000 residential units in the city have sustained damage since the outbreak of the war waged by the Israeli regime and the United States.
He stated that all of these units require some level of repair, ranging from minor fixes such as broken glass, doors, and windows to cases needing major reconstruction or complete rebuilding.
According to the official, the status of more than 4,000 housing units has so far been determined, and reconstruction work on them has begun. He explained that these efforts are either being carried out by homeowners with financial support from the municipality or directly managed by the city authorities.
Mohammadkhani added that a total of 1,869 affected families have required housing assistance. Of these, 1,245 families—equivalent to approximately 4,200 people—have been accommodated in 23 residential facilities.
The spokesman noted that some of those affected have chosen to stay with relatives or relocate to other cities, while about 140 families have already returned to their homes after minor repairs were completed.
The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.
The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
