Iran Must Withdraw from NPT

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - It seems imperative for Iran to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), since membership in the treaty has brought no benefit to Iran in utilizing peaceful nuclear energy.

Nuclear

The NPT is a treaty that ostensibly aims to support various countries in the production and use of peaceful nuclear energy. Despite the fact that a regime like Israel has never been a member of this treaty and has faced no pressure from the world’s military powers to join, Iran has always been a member of the NPT.

In addition to the NPT, which serves as a regulatory and, ostensibly, supportive framework in the nuclear field, Iran has also accepted the Additional Protocol in various agreements, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and even went beyond the Additional Protocol to demonstrate its transparency and willingness to comply with oversight.

However, membership in the NPT has not only yielded no benefits for Iran in gaining access to peaceful nuclear energy, but it has also, beyond the NPT, merely aided the espionage activities of Israel and the United States against Iran. The enemies have repeatedly sabotaged Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities by utilizing information from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and, outrageously, have bombed them.

Now, in an incredibly shameless act, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi, who is essentially a puppet of the United States and the Israeli regime, has implicitly granted permission for the nuclear bombing of Iran, stating that an atomic bombing could destroy all of Iran's nuclear facilities.

Considering such shameless statements and an utterly ruthless history from the IAEA, and also the fact that the NPT has brought no benefits to Iran, Iran must withdraw from this treaty as soon as possible. Iran has repeatedly stated and still firmly believes that it wants to utilize peaceful nuclear energy, therefore there is no reason to remain in a treaty that serves merely as a tool of espionage for the US and Israel aimed at undermining Iran's peaceful right.

Several years ago, David Albright, a well-known figure in the US focused on nuclear issues, stated in the US Congress that the IAEA inspectors act as the US infantry.
