Iranian, Russian Diplomats Discuss Regional Issues

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s envoy to Moscow and Russia’s deputy foreign minister held talks about the latest regional developments in the wake of the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov held a meeting in Moscow on Wednesday to discuss the latest regional and international developments, as well as nuclear matters.

Jalali described the unprovoked, unjustifiable, and blatant aggression of the United States and the Israeli regime against the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a gross violation of all fundamental international rights.

The envoy asserted that the terrorist and criminal actions resulting in the martyrdom of officials and 170 school students in Iran’s Minab, along with attacks on healthcare, educational, cultural, and ancient sites across Iran, are evidence of the complete alienation of the aggressors from basic human, ethical, and human rights principles.

For his part, Ryabkov conveyed condolences to the Iranian government and nation on the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the loss of citizens and officials.

The Russian deputy minister articulated the position of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a clear and explicit condemnation of the use of force in the face of diplomacy and dialogue.

The two diplomats also underscored the importance of continuing consultations at various levels to counter unilateral trends and threats to international peace and security.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
