General Mohammad Akraminia stated that the majority of the UAVs used against Ben Gurion Airport were Arash-2 drones, which have a range of 2,000 kilometers and are a more advanced and destructive version of the Kian and Arash-1 drones.
The spokesperson explained that, due to the very small radar cross-section of this drone, it can easily evade enemy radar systems, making it very difficult for adversaries to detect it. Additionally, he said because of its high endurance and relatively low cost compared to other drones and the missile defense systems that are fired at it, Arash-2 is considered cost-effective.
Since Arash-2 can strike designated targets with precision, it is produced very quickly, and its preparation and launch speed is high, Akraminia added, noting that whenever a decision is made, the Army can very easily launch a large number of Arash-2 drones.
Regarding the attack on Ben Gurion Airport, the spokesperson stated that this airport is the largest military airport of the Zionist regime, and because it serves as a gathering place for refueling tankers and as a launch point for attacks against Iran, along with the presence of aircraft maintenance industries next to this airport, it is strategically significant in the occupied territories.
The general explained that due to the naval and land limitations of the Zionist regime, over 90 percent of its trade is conducted through air routes, and since the majority of Israel’s trade is carried out through Ben Gurion Airport, it functions as the main economic artery and driving force of the Israeli economy.
The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.
The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
