Iran Condemns Israeli Regime’s West Bank Land Grab

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei on Wednesday condemned Israel’s attempt to tighten control over the occupied West Bank through land registration in Area C, calling it an extension of policies of genocide against Palestinian people.

Baqaei said the measure amounts to a de facto annexation of Palestinian land and aligns with Israel’s "colonial plans to annihilate Palestine."

He added that the United Nations and its member states bear responsibility to oppose the move and end the Tel Aviv regime’s impunity.

He further said the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and many countries have condemned Israel’s “illegal and criminal” action, urging the UN to take “decisive and effective” steps to address alleged violations of Palestinians’ rights, including their right to life and self-determination.

Israel recently approved broad measures in the occupied West Bank that Palestinians say breach the Oslo framework and amount to de facto annexation of Palestinian territory.

The policy, announced by Israel's extremist finance minister Bezalel Smotrich and minister of military affairs Israel Katz, significantly alters governance in the West Bank, opening the way for expanded settlements, land seizures, and the erosion of Palestinian civil rights.

According to the announcement, the steps lift longstanding legal restrictions on Israeli settlers, accelerate settlement expansion, and extend Israeli military and civil authority into areas previously under partial Palestinian administration.

Signed in the 1990s, the Oslo Accords are agreements between the Israeli regime and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) that were meant to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and guarantee Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
