Venezuela Denies US Allegations of Drug Trafficking

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Venezuela's interior minister once again rejected accusations from the United States regarding Caracas' involvement in drug trafficking.

Other Media

Diosdado Cabio stated that over seven tons of drugs have been seized by Venezuelan forces since the beginning of the new year.

Speaking in a televised interview, Cabio announced that more than seven tons of drugs have been confiscated throughout the country since the start of the year, TASS reported.

He revealed that in a special operation in the Zulia state, bordering Colombia, 6,850 kilograms of marijuana and 91 kilograms of cocaine were seized on January 5.

Cabio vehemently denied the US's allegations of Venezuelan government involvement in drug trafficking, asserting that Caracas remains committed to combating drug use and will not permit illicit substances to cross Venezuelan territory.

Furthermore, he reminded viewers that Venezuelan police dismantled numerous drug manufacturing centers and transit routes in 2025.

Venezuela has repeatedly condemned the United States for orchestrating the seizure of Venezuelan officials in an effort to interfere in its internal affairs and expand its influence in the South America region.

The US abducted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on January 3, claiming efforts to combat drug trafficking.

The White House has threatened to overthrow leftist governments throughout Latin America and considers the region its backyard.

Venezuela's Vice President Delcy Rodríguez took the oath of office as interim president on January 6.
