According to Palestinian sources, the escalation of Israeli settler violence in the West Bank, beginning since the October 2023 Gaza war has resulted in the forced displacement of 20 Palestinian families from Ariha, along with 1,720 instances of settler violence against Palestinians since the conflict began.
In the past year, 845 settler incidents led to four Palestinian deaths and 200 injuries.
Furthermore, according to the Palestinian Resistance organization against the Separation Wall and settlement construction, the ongoing settlement plans in the West Bank threaten Palestinian access to Al-Quds and Ramallah.
An Israeli newspaper, Israel Hayom, reported a meeting of the Jerusalem District Planning Commission today to discuss and approve two settlement proposals.
The first proposal involves constructing approximately 9,000 Israeli housing units in the Ghalandia Airport area, earmarked for Orthodox Jews.
The Palestinian Authority's settlement watchdog, in a statement, warned that the proposed development could sever Palestinian access to Al-Quds and Ramallah.
The second plan includes the demolition of the Umm Haroun neighborhood in East Al-Quds, aiming to construct a 316-unit settlement.
Currently, 750,000 settlers reside in Israeli settlements across the West Bank, including 250,000 in East Al-Quds, and settlers frequently engage in violent and disruptive behaviors to forcibly relocate Palestinians.
