The 22nd Asian Men’s Handball Championship will be held in Kuwait from January 15 to February 9. Iran has been drawn into a very tough group alongside Japan and Saudi Arabia. The top four teams in the tournament will qualify for the 2027 World Handball Championship, which will be hosted by Germany.
Iran’s national team began its preparations for the 2026 Asian Championship on December 20 in Tehran before traveling to Bahrain for a training camp, where it played two friendly matches against the host nation.
After returning from Bahrain, Team Melli players resumed training in Tehran and it marked the team’s final camp before heading to Spain.
Iran, headed by Rafael Guijosa, will travel to Spain on Thursday to take part in a preparatory tournament, before moving on to Kuwait for the Asian Championship.
