TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf highlighted the importance of enforcing the security agreement between Iran and Iraq, describing it as a foundation for lasting stability and deeper bilateral relations.

In comments at a meeting with Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, held in Tehran on Tuesday, Qalibaf emphasized the necessity of implementing the security pact signed between Iran and Iraq, saying the agreement outlines a serious step toward establishing sustainable security with a long-term vision for both countries and the wider region.

“We hope that with the security agreement established between Iran and Iraq and the path ahead, we will achieve greater stability in various dimensions, and that the relationship between the two countries will become deeper than before,” he added.

He also noted that bilateral and regional cooperation between Iran and Iraq holds a unique role, saying while the two sides must continue to deepen their ties, they must also recognize that security agreements serve to preserve unity in the face of threats confronting the Islamic world and the Muslim community.
