TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey weighed plans to use diplomatic leverage to mount regional and international pressures on the Zionist regime and force it to give in to a ceasefire and stop the onslaught on Gaza.

In a telephone conversation on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues, most notably the Zionist regime’s heinous crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

Hailing the growing relations between Iran and Turkey, Amirabdollahian highlighted the importance of an upcoming meeting between the presidents of the two countries.

On Palestine, the Iranian foreign minister said the United States’ full-fledged support for the Zionist regime propels the occupying regime’s incessant crimes against the Palestinian residents in Gaza and the West Bank.

He urged that utmost efforts should be made through initiatives and diplomatic means to stop the crimes and genocide in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for immediate relief aids for the Palestinians and alleviating their sufferings.

Fidan, for his part, praised Iran for its diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, saying Palestine is the Islamic world’s pivotal issue.

The Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers emphasized that diplomatic talks and efforts should continue at the regional and international levels in order to mount pressures on the Zionist regime to force it to accept a ceasefire and stop the onslaught on Gaza.

More than 18,200 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombardment in Gaza since October 7.
