Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who has made a trip to South Africa, will represent Iran at the 5th Tehran-Pretoria Joint Political Committee on Monday.

Amir Abdollahian left Cape Town on Sunday evening for Pretoria after meeting with the south African parliamentary officials.

He will also meet South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane as well as a number of other political and economic officials.

The Iranian diplomat is also scheduled to pay a visit to Zimbabwe to hold talks with the country’s high-ranking officials on issues of mutual interest.

Expansion of relations with African countries in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of the Iranian foreign policy.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly said that his government welcomes boosting relations with the African nations.
