In a cabinet session on Sunday, President Hassan Rouhani pointed to the killing of women and children in Gaza by the Zionist regime, and said, “More important than extensive ground and air strikes on the defenseless people of Gaza is the international silence on the huge humanitarian catastrophe and that the countries claimed to be civilized are silent about this state-sponsored terrorism."
The fact that all members of a family become the target of tank shells and mutilated is something unbelievable and cannot be tolerated, the Iranian president added.
He also stated that the Zionist regime of Israel has caused huge humanitarian catastrophe by resorting to baseless excuses.
Rouhani further said western countries and many Arab or Muslim states have unfortunately remained silent about Israeli crimes and their reactions did not match the depth of catastrophe.
The Israeli regime has launched a ground military operation in the Gaza Strip since Thursday after 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea.
Around 500 Palestinians have been killed and thousands have been wounded in the 14-day Israeli assault on the densely-populated enclave of 1.8 million Palestinians.
