Iranian police forces possess a wide range of equipment and are capable of carrying out specialized operations and providing training in expert fields, General Mahmoud Zadekamand, a high-ranking officer of the Iranian Law Enforcement Forces  said on Monday.

He made the comments in an address to the 13th Asian Interpol Contact Officers Meeting, here in Tehran.

The commander also elaborated on the considerable efforts the Iranian police and the Interpol regional bureau in Tehran have made to counter international crimes.

“Iran, as an active country in combating narcotics trafficking, terrorism and cyber-crimes, has worked in broad international cooperation in recent years,” General Zadekamand explained.

He further praised the role of the Interpol in providing worldwide security.

Interpol is the world’s largest international police organization, with 190 member countries. Founded in 1914, its role is to enable police around the world to work together to make the world a safer place, according to the Interpol official website.
