Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Larijani said they discussed "various major developments in Africa," adding that Africa, like the Middle East, is now witnessing several major developments.
"Our views on the issue (developments) are very close," Larijani stated, expressing the hope that Ethuro's visit to Iran could yield fruitful results in the expansion of the two countries' ties and the two sides' further consultations on different key issues in the region.
The two sides also discussed further expansion of mutual cooperation, particularly in the field of energy, mine and agriculture, the Iranian speaker stated.
Currently, Iran exports to Kenya consist of industrial oil, chemical products and carpets, whereas Kenya’s exports to Iran rely mainly on tea.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly said that his government welcomes boosting relations with African nations.
To that end, Tehran has engaged in a flurry of diplomatic exchanges with African states and clinched several cooperation agreements.
Tehran has put emphasis on promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states and the country is now considered as one of the African Union’s strategic partners.
