FM Reaffirms Iran’s Right to Self-Defense in Talks with 12 Countries

In a message posted on his Instagram account on Saturday, Araqchi said he has held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from 12 countries over the past 48 hours, discussing the latest regional and international developments and the consequences of the US and Israeli actions aimed at escalating tensions.

The talks involved the foreign ministers of Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Cyprus, Turkey, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Iraq and Pakistan.

Araqchi said he has outlined Iran’s principled positions during the consultations, emphasizing the need to respect national sovereignty, end aggression and threats, refrain from destructive foreign interference, and ensure that regional countries fulfill their responsibility to prevent the spread of insecurity.

He also underscored Iran’s legitimate right to defend its sovereignty and national security, calling for the establishment of regional security arrangements without intervention by extra-regional powers.
