The attackers quickly escaped following the assault, and no further details about their identities have so far emerged.

However, the attack is suspected to have been carried out by mercenaries of the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, whose members have previously carried out similar attacks targeting development efforts in the region.

The incident comes as engineers and contractor personnel are engaged in various parts of the province as part of the implementation of infrastructure and development projects.
