Israeli authorities have issued 9,518 demolition and stop-work notices against Palestinian structures in the occupied West Bank since 2015, intensifying pressure on Palestinian communities and threatening their homes, livelihoods and access to essential services, according to a Palestinian government commission.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said Saturday that the notices had effectively restricted Palestinian construction and placed thousands of properties under the threat of demolition, further entrenching the Israeli regime’s policies of dispossession and territorial control in the occupied territory.
According to the report, obtained by Anadolu, 9,174 notices were documented between 2015 and 2025, with another 344 issued during the first nine months of 2026.
The commission warned that the figures might not reflect the full scale of Israeli measures, as its records were based on documented cases collected in cooperation with legal organizations, including the Jerusalem (al-Quds) Legal Aid and Human Rights Center and the Society of St. Yves.
Hebron (al-Khalil) recorded the highest number of notices, with 2,697 cases, followed by Bethlehem with 1,310, Ramallah and al-Bireh with 1,118, and al-Quds with 929.
The annual figures reached their highest level in 2023, when Israeli authorities issued 1,333 notices, nearly twice the 701 recorded in 2015.
Meanwhile, separate data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reveal the devastating consequences of Israel’s demolition campaign. Nearly 12,000 Palestinian structures were demolished over the same period, including 1,698 buildings funded by international donors.
These demolitions displaced more than 18,000 Palestinians and affected approximately 843,000 others, according to the UN agency.
OCHA documents demolitions carried out under various pretexts, including the absence of Israeli-issued building permits, punitive measures and military operations.
The figures underscore the systematic pressure facing Palestinians under Israeli occupation, as restrictions on construction and repeated demolitions continue to undermine the survival and development of Palestinian communities.
