In a post on his X account on Thursday night, Qalibaf said Iran has repeatedly and explicitly communicated its conditions to mediators, making clear that no diplomatic breakthrough could be achieved unless all seven conditions are accepted.
“Iran’s conditions have been repeatedly and clearly stated to the mediators,” he wrote.
“The carrot-and-stick approach has no effect on Iran,” Qalibaf added.
“Progress can only be achieved once Iran’s seven conditions have been agreed upon,” he emphasized.
His tweet came after renewed diplomatic efforts, involving Qatari mediation and a visit to Tehran by Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir, aimed at exploring a possible diplomatic understanding between Tehran and Washington.
Meanwhile, the US Vice President JD Vance reportedly sent a letter to Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei proposing a resumption of negotiations, but the proposal sought Iranian commitments on the nuclear issue in exchange for US concessions, including sanctions relief and steps toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s conditions include the lifting of sanctions, the unfreezing of Iranian assets and an end to hostilities on all fronts, including the Israeli military campaign in Lebanon.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has also stressed that Washington must meet Tehran’s conditions if it genuinely seeks progress in negotiations and an arrangement concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Rezaei has emphasized that the US must take concrete confidence-building measures before any negotiations can proceed, reiterating that Iran will not yield to pressure.
