The source familiar with the matter told Tasnim that Al Arabiya’s report claiming Iran had offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the lifting of the US naval blockade was “lies and fantasies,” adding that Iran will not accept any arrangement linking the strait to the blockade.
The source added that, like many of the Saudi media outlet’s other reports about Iran, the claim was fabricated.
“Iran fundamentally does not accept any equation of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the blockade,” the source said, adding that Iran was circumventing the blockade through its own methods and would ultimately break it.
The source also said Iran had not submitted any new proposal to Pakistani mediators.
Iran’s seven-point plan, which sets out the country’s demands, had already been conveyed to the United States, the source said, adding that the plan remained Tehran’s stated position.
“Until all of Iran’s legitimate demands are met, one of which is ending interference with Iran’s ports and maritime shipping, the insecurity imposed by the American enemy in the Strait of Hormuz will not be eliminated,” the source told Tasnim.
The source further stressed that Iran will not accept speculation or media conjecture as a substitute for the position it had formally communicated through mediators.
“The whole world knows very well that the cause and instigator of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is America’s aggressive and interventionist actions,” the source said, adding that ending these unlawful actions was a common demand of countries across the region and the world.
