The gathering was organized on Wednesday afternoon during a visit by a 110-member delegation of university professors and faculty members who traveled to southern Iran to express solidarity with the country’s Armed Forces and local communities.
Participants paid tribute to those martyred on Hormuz Island before assembling along the coastline to demonstrate their support for the country’s defenders and their commitment to safeguarding their homeland Iran and its maritime borders.
Mohammad Hosseini, a faculty member at the University of Tehran and former deputy for parliamentary affairs in the 13th administration, said the human chain was formed by academics taking part in the visit in support of those defending the Strait of Hormuz.
Hosseini described the gathering as a symbol of the Iranian people’s resistance, particularly among university professors and intellectuals, adding that the country’s academic community had lost members in recent wars and remained prepared to defend Iran’s dignity and sovereignty.
He also emphasized the significance of the Iranian flag raised along the Persian Gulf coast, describing it as a symbol of the nation’s determination and collective resolve.
The delegation’s visit included meetings with families of those killed, a visit to a school in Minab and the coastal gathering on Hormuz Island.
The event took place as part of a national initiative involving the Media Network of University Professors from across Iran, which has focused on the role of academics and media professionals in explaining national and regional developments and addressing competing narratives.
The participants reiterated their support for Iran’s defenders and their commitment to protecting the country’s territorial integrity.
