The IRGC Navy’s public relations office said on Wednesday that the vessel exploded after hitting a naval mine, triggering a massive fire.

The statement added that the ship, which was carrying more than 2,500 containers, sank in the southern waters of the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday morning due to the intensity of the fire.

The IRGC Navy urged local vessels and fishermen to exercise the utmost caution while navigating the area to avoid colliding with containers floating on the water.
