Saudi Arabia Issues Air Alerts after Reported Yemen Drone Attack on Riyadh

Reports of explosions in Jeddah and possible missile and drone attacks attributed to Yemen’s armed forces prompted reports of flight suspensions at the city’s airport, while Saudi authorities issued air alerts across Riyadh and surrounding areas early Wednesday.

Several regional sources reported explosions in Jeddah, alongside claims of missile and drone strikes targeting the city’s airport and an Aramco oil refinery.

Meanwhile, Saudi authorities activated early-warning sirens in Riyadh and Al-Kharj amid reports of a potential aerial threat.

Reuters reported that an alert had been issued over a possible air threat in Riyadh, while Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense said warning sirens had sounded in Riyadh and Al-Kharj.

Some regional media outlets reported possible missile and drone attacks attributed to Yemen’s armed forces targeting Riyadh and Al-Kharj.

Saudi Civil Defense later announced that the threat had passed in Riyadh and Al-Kharj.

Separately, Saudi Arabia’s military reported a drone attack by Yemen’s armed forces on Riyadh early Wednesday, while unofficial sources reported that Yemeni ballistic missiles had been launched toward targets in the kingdom.

Shortly afterward, Saudi Civil Defense issued alerts in Wadi al-Dawasir and Al-Sulayyil, both in the Riyadh region.

Al-Sulayyil is home to a Saudi missile base that has reportedly been targeted in several previous missile attacks by Yemen’s military.
