During a meeting with Afghanistan’s Finance Minister Mullah Mohammad Nasir Akhund in Kabul, Aliabadi said Iran has traveled to Afghanistan with a strong delegation to further consolidate trade and economic relations, particularly in the fields of water and energy.
He highlighted the importance Iran attaches to Afghanistan due to the two countries’ shared language and culture, saying, “We are by your side and are counting on relations with Afghanistan and brotherhood with you.”
Aliabadi said Iran regards Afghanistan’s progress as its own aspiration and is prepared to assist the country in the electricity sector. He also invited Afghan officials to visit Iran and observe its achievements in the industry.
The Iranian minister noted that Iran has expertise in wind and thermal turbine technologies and has provided services to countries including Russia, Iraq and Afghanistan. He added that Iran has built or repaired power plants in Syria, Iraq, Oman, Pakistan and Indonesia.
Aliabadi also highlighted Iran’s capabilities in water technology and treatment plants, saying Tehran is ready to transfer its expertise to Afghanistan. “We intend to share with you our scientific achievements,” he said.
He further called for unity among regional countries, stressing that Iran considers Afghanistan and other regional states brothers and that they should not allow their enemies to sow division between them.
Akhund, for his part, said relations between Iran and Afghanistan should be based on mutual respect and shared commonalities, adding that this principle had been maintained between the two countries.
He also expressed hope that the talks would mark the beginning of broader economic relations between Iran and Afghanistan.
