In a meeting with Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of Malaysia’s lower house of Parliament, held on the sidelines of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha, Tanzania, Mottaki said the two countries have significant potential to expand bilateral ties.
He also proposed cooperation with Malaysia, which he described as a brotherly and friendly country, in managing the regional situation through dialogue and interaction.
Mottaki noted that Iran has demonstrated its capabilities in various fields, including nuclear science and missile technology, and stressed that the country would not trade away its identity and authority.
The Iranian MP also called for greater use of Asia’s capacities, suggesting that an alliance of Islamic countries with common goals could help address threats.
Johari, for his part, praised the courage of the Iranian people in defending their country and said Malaysia would continue to support Iran. He also highlighted Iran’s support for the Palestinian resistance, saying Iran is the only country to have practically defended the Palestinian people’s resistance.
The Malaysian parliamentary speaker described Iran as a civilization with an established place in the world and called on the country to remain patient and steadfast in pursuing its role.
