Iran Eyes Closer Economic Ties with Thailand

Speaking at a ceremony to receive the credentials of Thailand’s new ambassador to Tehran, Pezeshkian said the two countries could strengthen their relations by drawing on their historical ties and existing potential.

He stressed that expanding Iran-Thailand relations is fully achievable and said Iran is ready to broaden ties with Thailand in various fields.

Pezeshkian also highlighted the important role of ambassadors in developing relations between countries, saying they are responsible for establishing and facilitating trade links, strengthening solidarity and interaction between peoples, and creating opportunities for the two sides to share their capacities and capabilities.

He expressed hope that Thailand’s new ambassador would successfully contribute to these efforts.

For his part, the Thai ambassador said he has been tasked by Thailand’s king, prime minister and foreign minister with further developing the friendly and understanding relations between the two countries.

The envoy said Iran-Thailand relations have a historical background dating back thousands of years to the era of the Persian Empire, adding that efforts would be made to continue this historical path and further develop bilateral ties.
