Alipour opened the snatch with successful lifts of 175kg and 180kg before failing to complete his third attempt at 183kg.

His 180kg snatch also established a new Asian Games record in the discipline.

In the clean and jerk, Alipour successfully lifted 213kg on his opening attempt before failing with 218kg on his second.

He returned for a third attempt at the same weight and successfully completed the lift, bringing his total to 398kg and securing the gold medal.

Kazakhstan’s Nurgissa Adiletuly took silver with a 394kg total, while China’s Tu Yi claimed bronze with 384kg.
