In a post on his X account, Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi hailed the interception of the US military’s most advanced unmanned submarine, saying the operation demonstrated the capabilities of Iran in monitoring the Persian Gulf.

“The dawn capture of the most advanced unmanned submarine of the US Army in 2025 means that no advanced technology can pass through our surveillance layers in the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.

“Dominance over the Persian Gulf belongs to our technology-savvy youth,” he added, calling on the US forces to “return to the Gulf of Pigs.”

The IRGC Navy said on Tuesday that it has intercepted and captured an advanced US unmanned underwater vehicle near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.

The vessel was identified as a Dive-LD, an autonomous underwater vehicle developed by US defense technology company Anduril Industries and delivered to the US Navy’s Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Group 1 in 2025.

The approximately 5.8-meter-long, 2.7-ton vehicle is designed for missions including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, seabed mapping, infrastructure inspection and mine-countermeasure operations. Its published specifications indicate an underwater endurance of up to 10 days and an operating depth of around 6,000 meters.
