3 People injured in Crown Heights Shootings near New York Carnival Parade Festivities

Police say a man was shot in front of 800 Nostrand Ave. at St. John's Place, just north of Eastern Parkway, WABC-TV reported.

A suspect was taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered.

A woman was then shot at Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue. A 19-year-old man was then found shot in the legs.

Two suspects fled towards Albany Avenue. One was wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans; the other was a wearing a white shirt.

Both victims are expected to survive.

The shootings come despite the extensive security measures taken by the NYPD in an effort to prevent the type of violence that has plagued the New York Carnival Parade in the past.

Earlier in the day, five people were stabbed just hours before the start of the parade.

All five victims were expected to survive.

Last year, six people were shot, none fatally, and one person was slashed.
