According to a statement issued by the Intelligence Ministry’s office in Sistan and Balouchestan Province, the province’s intelligence forces dismantled the three organized cells as they were entering the country and before they could carry out any acts of sabotage or terrorism.
The statement said that three terrorists have been killed in clashes with security forces, while nine others who had entered Iran from abroad were arrested.
According to the statement, the arrested individuals had received military, bomb-making and assassination training outside Iran and were attempting to enter the country clandestinely. They intended to undermine public security and disrupt stability in the southern counties of Sistan and Balouchestan Province.
A considerable quantity of weapons and military ammunition was also seized from the arrested terrorists, the statement added.
The Intelligence Ministry’s provincial office further announced that its forces have discovered and seized a cache containing light and semi-heavy military weapons that had been smuggled into the country illegally and concealed.
