Foreign Ministry Condemns US Attacks on Iranian Vessels

In a statement released on Saturday night, the Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the aggressive action of the US in attacking Iranian commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman taken on September 5.

“These illegal and aggressive actions, which have been committed in continuation of the United States’ military aggression against Iran and as part of that regime’s naval blockade and economic war against our homeland, are a clear violation of Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter, a war crime, and an obvious threat to international peace and the security of commercial shipping,” the ministry said.

Emphasizing Iran’s determination to firmly defend its sovereignty and national interests against state terrorism and the aggressive actions of the US, including the continuation of the naval blockade and economic war and attacks on commercial ships, the Foreign Ministry stated that it holds the US regime and its accomplices and partners responsible for the consequences arising from the continuation of the US’ aggressive and interventionist actions in the region.
