In a post on his X account on Thursday, Baqaei cited an official document submitted by the Qatari government to the ITU regarding Iran’s strikes against US forces in Qatar. He said the document contradicts attempts to portray Iran’s military actions as attacks on civilians, while stressing that facilities targeted were being used in support of US military aggression against Iran.
“The Qatari government has confirmed, in an official document submitted to the ITU, that Iran’s defensive strikes against American forces stationed on Qatari soil ‘were directed towards US military facilities. […] No civilian areas have been targeted’,” Baqaei wrote.
“The sole exception alleged by Qatar was an attack against a gas facility on 18 March. It should be recalled, however, that the facilities struck that day were serving US military aggression against Iran,” he added.
“This stands in stark contrast to the United States’ long record of deliberate attacks on civilian targets - schools, hospitals, residential neighborhoods, wedding ceremonies, bridges, and more,” the spokesman said.
“There is a vast difference between a civilized nation that has learned the importance of adhering to moral and humanitarian principles even under the most distressing circumstances, and warmongering rulers who observe no rule of law or ethics in their projection of power,” he stated.
