China Urges US to Lift Sanctions on Chinese Firms, Citizens

China has repeatedly stated its firm opposition to unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law or authorization from the United Nations Security Council, the ministry's spokesperson Huang Ling said at a regular press briefing, Xinhua reported.

Despite China's repeated representations, the US side has on multiple occasions slapped sanctions on Chinese companies and citizens over Iran-related ties, she said, noting that China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to such actions.

The US unilateral sanctions improperly interfere with normal economic and trade exchanges between relevant countries and severely disrupt global energy security and stable supply, the spokesperson said.

China urged the US side to immediately correct its wrongful practices and lift the sanctions, and will firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises and citizens, Huang added.
