UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday called for an end to Israeli regime strikes in Gaza and violence by Israeli occupiers in the West Bank.

“In Gaza, the ceasefire must be respected,” Guterres said at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

He called for the immediate removal of obstacles imposed on humanitarian aid.

The ceasefire in Gaza took effect last October.

Since then, the Israeli regime has killed more than 1,320 Palestinians and injured more than 4,385 others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

The Israeli regime’s army has killed more than 73,000 people and injured over 174,000 others in its brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023.

Meanwhile, Guterres said “settler attacks and settlement expansion must end” in the occupied West Bank.

The UN said in August that Israeli occupier violence had reached “unprecedented levels,” with more than 1,430 attacks resulting in casualties or property damage documented in 2026 as of early August.
