Iran Signs Key Agreements at SCO Summit

Among the key documents endorsed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was the ‘Bishkek Declaration marking the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’, along with a protocol introducing amendments and additions to the SCO Charter.
The summit also adopted regulations for the SCO Comprehensive Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats and the executive committee of the SCO Anti-Drug Center.
The member states further approved a program on cooperation in combating drug addiction through 2030, a plan to counter the spread of synthetic drugs and their precursors through 2030, and an action plan for developing ports and logistics centers for 2026–2030.
Other decisions covered sustainable biodiversity conservation and management, regional centers for data processing and computing capacity, artificial intelligence development, and cooperation on establishing a ‘Green Technology Corridor’ for 2026–2030.
The Pakistani city of Lahore was designated as the SCO Tourism and Cultural Capital for 2026 and 2027. The summit also approved a memorandum of understanding between the SCO Secretariat and the African Union Commission.
Several declarations were also presented without signature, covering multilateral cooperation on nuclear and physical nuclear security, energy conservation and efficiency, energy systems, and support for the family institution.
