Heavy artillery fire was heard southeast of Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, with initial reports indicating that at least three mortar shells were fired, followed by loud explosions and clouds of smoke over the area.
The attacks have further deepened concerns among Palestinians across the besieged enclave as Israeli regime forces continue their attacks despite the ceasefire.
Five Palestinians were killed on the previous day, while three of those killed were members of the same family in Khan Younis.
Others were killed in separate attacks in Gaza City, while several people were reported injured and taken to al-Shifa Hospital.
Meanwhile, the fragile ceasefire remains under growing pressure, with concerns that it could collapse as the Israeli regime continues to violate the terms of the agreement.
According to reports, there have been more than 4,700 Israeli violations of the ceasefire.
The health ministry said at least nine Palestinians have been killed and 18 injured in new Israeli regime attacks on the Gaza Strip over the past 48 hours.
The ministry also said one body had been recovered from the rubble of previous Israeli attacks.
It added that the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 73,449 Palestinians and injured 174,472 since October 7, 2023.
At least 1,313 Palestinians have been killed and 4,361 injured since last year’s “ceasefire.”
