Iran Reaffirms Support for Lebanon in Face of Israeli Occupation

Araqchi made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran on Friday with Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, vice president of Lebanon’s Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, who is in Iran to attend the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference.

Al-Khatib briefed Araqchi on the latest developments in Lebanon and the continuation of Israeli aggression against the Arab country, expressing appreciation for Iran’s principled support for the Lebanese people and Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also described Tehran’s position as a source of reassurance and hope for the Lebanese people.

Araqchi, for his part, emphasized that Iran would continue its steadfast support for Lebanon and attach particular importance to ending the war against the country and ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli occupiers from Lebanese territories.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening unity and cohesion among Muslim countries in confronting the Zionist regime’s “genocide, warmongering and expansionism.”

The Iranian foreign minister further called for greater solidarity among regional and Muslim countries to counter threats and harmful interference in the affairs of countries in the region.
