Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Qatari Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Tehran on Thursday afternoon, stressing that Iran does not seek war or an expansion of hostilities.

The Iranian president said the US and the Zionist regime do not want peace and stability in the region, noting that Iran and Qatar had been expected to undertake a number of joint initiatives, but the US-Israeli war of aggression delayed the implementation of agreements and the expansion of bilateral interactions.

He warned that the Israeli regime's plan is to prevent the establishment of cordial relations among Muslims, adding, “We appreciate the efforts of the Qatari government and the Emir of this country to mediate and establish peace and tranquility. These efforts are valuable to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Pezeshkian emphasized that the war had been imposed on Iran and that its continuation would harm the country, the region and the world.

“Logic dictates that the implementation of the (Islamabad) memorandum of understanding should resume in the same manner as before and that issues should be resolved through dialogue, rather than countries resorting to war and showing their claws and teeth to resolve their problems,” he said.

Referring to efforts by some circles in the US and the Israeli regime to prevent agreements from taking shape, Pezeshkian said the Islamic Republic believes that peace and security would serve the interests of Iran, the region and the world.

The Iranian president also described US attacks on Iran as actions contrary to all principles of international law, saying that the Americans had “unfairly targeted the Leader, commanders, students and people of Iran.”

Such an action, he stressed, is unacceptable under any framework of international law.

“Iran has not sought war, does not seek war and will not seek war, but it will not bow to bullying either,” Pezeshkian said.

He stressed that the opposing parties must recognize all the rights of the Iranian nation in every field and within the framework of international law, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek anything beyond its legal rights.”

Pezeshkian also appreciated the efforts of Qatar, Pakistan, Oman and other countries working to establish peace and security in the region.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said Qatar is seeking to restore stability to the region and sees clearly Iran's “outstretched hand” toward regional countries as well as the Islamic Republic's efforts to ensure security and tranquility.

“We hope that the problems ahead will be resolved by continuing this approach,” the Qatari prime minister and foreign minister said.

He emphasized that Qatar wants the Iranian people to enjoy security, progress and prosperity, noting that the war did not originate inside the region but was imposed on the region from outside.

He also pointed to the valuable efforts made by Pakistan and Oman, stressing that Qatar supports the implementation of the understandings reached.
