Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi referred to US President Donald Trump’s remarks about launching an economic war against Iran, saying the announcement amounts to an acknowledgment of the failure of the military campaign.
He said economic warfare is nothing new, noting that the US has imposed sanctions on Iran’s economic sectors for 47 years. The current campaign, he added, is primarily aimed at shaping public perceptions and creating the belief that Washington is prevailing.
Mohebbi stressed that the IRGC has prepared scenarios for every hostile action against Iran, including economic warfare.
“We have scenarios to counter the adverse effects of the enemy’s war and can easily establish economic relations with countries,” he said, adding that there is no concern regarding Iran’s economic situation.
The IRGC spokesman said Iran is maintaining economic interactions “right under America’s nose” and bypassing US pressure, adding that the results would become evident in the near future.
He reiterated that the US has already been defeated, arguing that Washington would not have retreated and announced an economic war if it had achieved victory on the military front.
