President Urges Unity to Overcome Iran’s Challenges

Speaking at a ceremony marking Government Week and renewing allegiance to the ideals of late Imam Khomeini at his mausoleum in Tehran on Sunday, Pezeshkian said Iran has faced war, sanctions, economic pressure and repeated security threats since his administration took office.

He said the government has inherited serious imbalances in water, electricity, gas, fuel, the environment and the banking sector, while also dealing with an all-out economic, military and security war.

Despite those pressures, Pezeshkian said, Iran has not collapsed as its adversaries had expected, with the country's national solidarity helping it withstand the challenges.

“The enemy expected Iran to fall, but the Iranian people demonstrated their strength through resistance, solidarity and cohesion,” he said.

The president praised government officials, the Armed Forces and the public for maintaining essential services and preventing major disruptions despite the pressures.

He said the country could overcome its difficulties only through cooperation, urging everyone capable of helping to join the effort rather than merely criticizing from the sidelines.

“Iran does not need advice and admonition; it needs everyone who can enter the field, help and shoulder the burden,” Pezeshkian said.

He emphasized that the economic confrontation with Iran requires the same level of public participation seen during military conflict, saying the country’s challenges are not limited to missile attacks.

“An all-out war is not merely the firing of missiles,” he said, noting that Iranians from different backgrounds have stood together in defense of the country despite their political or personal grievances.

Pezeshkian also warned that division is precisely what Iran’s adversaries are seeking to create, calling for disputes and personal rivalries to be set aside.

“The enemy’s only hope is to create division and a rift in society by creating problems,” he cautioned.

The president stressed that unity should be accompanied by informed decision-making, expertise and consultation. He said decisions reached collectively should be respected and implemented by all sides.

Pezeshkian also called for greater efforts to address inflation, livelihoods, employment and people’s future, acknowledging that serious problems remained.

He praised Iran’s military and security forces for maintaining their positions despite the risks, as well as workers, businesses and other segments of society for continuing their activities under difficult conditions.
