Rally in Budapest Express Solidarity With Palestinians Detained By Israeli Regime

The rally, organized by the Community of Palestinians Living in Hungary, began at 2 p.m. on Vámház Boulevard near the Central Market Hall.

According to Euronews, demonstrators expressed solidarity with Palestinians detained by the Zionits regime, particularly Abu Safiya, a paediatrician and obstetrician who organizers say has been held without charge or trial since 2024.

Participants called for freedom for Palestine and a genuine peace in the Middle East.

One participant condemned Israel for portraying itself as a victim while Palestinians remained detained and called for the country’s international isolation, while another questioned why Hungary continued to maintain relations with the genocidal regime of Israel.

The protests also represent a departure from the policy of Hungary’s previous government, under which pro-Palestinian demonstrations were not permitted in Hungary.

The demonstrations took place in the same central Budapest area, underscoring the feelings of people over Israel’s treatment of Palestinian detainees and the war of genocide in Gaza.

A small opposing pro-Israel protest was also present, with participants carrying Israeli flags and expressing support for the regime.
