The IRGC announced in a statement on Monday that the US MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted and destroyed while flying over the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement said the drone was tracked and hit by fire from a newly developed advanced air defense system operated by the IRGC Aerospace Force.
