Araqchi Condemns US Attacks on Iran in Talks with Pakistani FM

Araqchi had a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday on the sidelines of the Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral ties and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.

Araqchi thanked Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts and mediation initiatives in recent months, saying the United States' violation of its commitments and excessive demands have been the main factor behind the current regional situation.

Condemning the US attacks on Iran's vital infrastructure, the Iranian foreign minister stressed that the Islamic Republic remains firmly determined to defend its sovereignty and national interests.

He also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation among SCO member states, saying closer coordination within the bloc would help promote multilateralism and counter the continued erosion of international norms and institutions caused by Washington's unilateral and coercive policies.

For his part, Ishaq Dar underscored the need to respect Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity and reaffirmed Pakistan's readiness to use all available diplomatic channels to help prevent further escalation in the region.
