In a statement released on Sunday night, the Foreign Ministry denounced the US military aggression carried out over the previous 24 hours, describing the attacks as a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2(4), and a serious threat to regional and international peace.

The ministry said the attacks have undermined months of diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability in the West Asia region.

It noted that only 25 days has passed since the signing of the Memorandum on the Termination of the War, yet the US has violated every major provision of the agreement by targeting Iran's transportation infrastructure, fishing vessels, cargo ships, meteorological facilities, and related civilian buildings.

The Foreign Ministry also lashed out at Washington for interfering with the implementation of arrangements concerning the Strait of Hormuz, saying the US actions have brought renewed insecurity to the strategic waterway and disrupted international commercial shipping.

According to the statement, the US also used the territory and military facilities of countries along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf to prepare and launch attacks against Iran, effectively turning those countries into platforms for an unlawful war against the Iranian nation.

Reaffirming Iran's determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the ministry warned against any participation in or assistance to the US military campaign.

It stressed that neighboring countries are obligated under international law to prevent their territory and facilities from being used for acts of aggression against Iran, adding that the sources and points of origin of attacks on the country would be regarded as legitimate targets for defensive operations by the Iranian Armed Forces.

The Foreign Ministry further took a swipe at the US administration for conducting a disinformation campaign to justify its actions, dismissing remarks by the US president about Saturday's negotiations in Muscat as "entirely false."

The statement said the Muscat talks were primarily focused on arrangements for the administration of the Strait of Hormuz and maritime navigation, adding that that US pressure on Oman ultimately prevented the negotiations from producing a successful outcome.

The ministry also criticized the passive response of the United Nations Secretariat to the US' actions, urging the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities in addressing violations of international peace and security.

It finally called for those responsible for ordering and carrying out the attacks against Iran to be held accountable and brought to justice.
