Iran’s Unity Strengthened by Recent Aggression: President

Pezeshkian made the remarks on Friday at a meeting in Tehran with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, who led a delegation to attend a memorial ceremony for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Pezeshkian thanked the Georgian government and people for their condolences and solidarity, saying the gesture provided an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The Iranian president strongly condemned recent US and Israeli attacks on Iran, describing them as violations of international law, the UN Charter, and international humanitarian law. He said the strikes resulted in the martyrdom of senior officials, military commanders, scientists, academics, schoolchildren, and civilians, as well as damage to parts of Iran’s infrastructure.

He said Iran exercised its legitimate right to self-defense and delivered a firm and proportionate response based on its national capabilities. Pezeshkian added that the aggressors had expected Iran to weaken or collapse under pressure, but instead the conflict reinforced national cohesion and unity.

He stressed that Iran’s Armed Forces defended the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while state institutions ensured continuity of governance and public services throughout the crisis. “Iran will never bow to bullying,” he said.

The president also described the Israeli regime as a source of instability in the region and reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace, stability, and constructive engagement with neighboring countries.

Highlighting Iran-Georgia relations, Pezeshkian said Tbilisi holds an important place in Tehran’s regional policy and pointed to significant potential for expanding cooperation in political, economic, trade, scientific, educational, cultural, and tourism fields.

For his part, Kavelashvili conveyed condolences from the Georgian government and people over the martyrdom of Iran’s Leader and citizens during the conflict, saying Georgia had stood alongside Iran during the difficult period.

He also reaffirmed Georgia’s support for peace, respect for national sovereignty, and countries’ right to self-defense, and expressed readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation by removing obstacles in various fields, describing the moment as an opportunity for a new chapter in relations between Tehran and Tbilisi.
