Iran Expresses Reservation on PUIC Final Statement on Palestine Issue

The closing session of the 20th PUIC conference was held in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During discussions on the final statement, several provisions related to the Palestinian issue were raised that were inconsistent with the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In response, the head of the Iranian parliamentary delegation presented Iran’s views, stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its principled stance on the Palestinian issue and a just and sustainable solution ensuring the full rights of the Palestinian people, has put forward its own proposed approach.

He added that, accordingly, the Iranian delegation at the conference has declared its reservation regarding certain paragraphs contained in the conference documents, including resolutions, the final statement, and the meeting report, which include concepts such as the two-state solution, the 1967 borders, and related notions that imply recognition of the Zionist regime.

The head of the Iranian parliamentary delegation to the PUIC also emphasized that Iran’s written reservation will be submitted to the secretariat and requested that it be included in the official report and relevant documents of the conference.

The 20th PUIC session was hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan under the theme “strengthening sustainable and inclusive economic development in OIC member states through parliamentary cooperation”.
